KION North America Assists the American Red Cross with Hurricane Matthew Relief Efforts

In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, KION North America delivered a Baoli KBG25 forklift to the American Red Cross Operations Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Hurricane Matthew formed in late September off the African coast. From Oct. 4 through Oct. 9, the storm had devastating effects on the Caribbean and eastern coast of the United States including mass power outages and damages from wind and floods. In anticipation of the storm’s landfall, KION North America ceased operations for three days. Upon returning to normal business hours on Monday, Oct. 11, the company was grateful for the opportunity to assist their surrounding community. The Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross serves nine counties in South Carolina including Dorchester county– where KION North America’s Summerville facility is located.
The Baoli KBG25 forklift is being used to help load emergency response vehicles with critical relief supplies. In the coming days and weeks, Red Cross volunteers will be delivering items such as snacks, water, clean up supplies and other resources to South Carolina residents as they continue to recover from Hurricane Matthew’s devastating effects.
